Re: Auto lights not working
Anyone know how long the boot lights stay on when the boot is open, I thought they would time out, mine seem to be permanently on.
To see how long they stay on when the boot is closed I put my phone on video and put it in the boot ( the grandson wouldnt get in ) it went off
after about 15 secs.

Auto lights not working
Hi all I have a 1997 XK8 with the auto light function, I have only just realised this function was on the car. Anyhow it’s not working, I assume when switched on as the light fades it switches on the lights or on dark rainy days. Tried in my garage tonight pitch black in there ,ignition on auto swit...

Re: Cooling fans running,temperature normal
Hi All, I have just changed my water pump and thermostat housing. Having read all the posts I now realise our temp gauges are useless and do not give an accurate guide to temperatures. So from a well known auction site I purchased a temp gauge that reads from 40 to 120 c, it came complete with sende...

Re: 1997 xk8 Timing kit
Hi All I have just replaced my tensioners and chains this week , I purchased the lock down kit from e bay £38.00 (hippoproduct) the locking bars are made of metal and did the job well. I made my own crankshaft pulley puller and a tool to hold the pulley still whilst unbolting it. I didnt want to rel...

Re: Engine number
Thanks for the reply Mike, this probably is not the right thread to continue this item ,but I don,t know where else to reply. Checking online and tool suppliers I was unable to get a satisfactory answer apart from use a rattle gun , or using the cam locking tools and flywheel locking pin . I did,not...

Re: Engine number
Hi folks just been reading through old posts looking for advice on removing the crankshaft pulley, anyone know how ? Any way ,I am about to replace the tensioners on my 1998 xk8 and have it partially stripped. And I can confirm that engine numbers can be found next to the thermostat housing, my engi...

Re: coolant level warning
Thanks for all that , looks like i,ve got my work cut out. Looking to the future ...once i,m back on the road would it be an idea to look at fitting a temp gauge that actually gives a realistic reading. Has anyone done that ?

Re: Rear subframe corrosion.
Hi ,Tony here in Cornwall I recently replaced my rear bushes, not too difficult a job , the bolts along the length of the frame were very tight and a little awkward to get a spanner on the top to stop the nut spinning. I used a drift and tapped out the old bushes a press was not needed . Did not do ...

Re: coolant level warning
Thank you for your replies, now the bad news ! I did manage to fill the system and the dripping sound stopped. So I went out for a spin not once has the temp gauge moved above normal ( half way )even when I had a low level warning. I did about 10 miles and came home ,lifted the bonnet whilst the eng...

Thanks for the replies, I checked with Jaguar and they have stopped manufacturing this chassis part. Will have to try breakers or plate the one in situ.
