On the XJ40 models there used top be a screw near the auto gear selector gate that you could remove and put a screwdriver in to override the solenoid lock. Is there any way you can do the same thing on an 2005 x type 2.5? I want the car in neutral without the ignition key in.

My 2.5 petrol X type is tricky to fill, no matter where I place the nozzle the flow automatically shots off repeatedly.

Removed passenger footwell glovebox and was able to move flap manually, it is as if the motor is not connected to the other end.

How much room is there to access motor on drivers side, is it an easy job to remove it?
Is there a known fault that causes motor to disconnect from flap/

Been away on holiday so only tried your reset fix today. I have not yet checked the fault codes but it seems to have fixed everything except no air through screen vents. I have heard the motor connection to the flaps tends to come loose / slip so plant to try getting at it tomorrow.
