Re: Gearbox
BrianG, totally agree with those sentiments, if the 2009 XF 6 speed box is anything like the 2014 8 speed box it does more changes up and down than a brides nighty, making it do more work than is really needed. Only after a remap did my 8 speed change when it was supposed to. I wonder whether these ...

Re: Gearbox
Hi Andi I asked the same question of my local dealer about my 2014 sportbrake, I was told Jaguar say sealed for life and good for 100,000 or more before any checks are needed, it's a bit like the no temperature gauge scenario on XF's, Jaguar say the warning system will tell you long before you have ...

wing mirror body removal
Hi All
Anyone ever removed the mirror body on a 2013 XF sportbrake. The tension spring peg in mine appears to be broken, causing the head to wobble. I can source the mirror body OK, but can't find a guide to removing the body its self. Any ideas.

Re: XJS Backfire
OK, changed out the dis cap, the old one was a bit scored, but nothing dramatic, now she turns over, but not trying to fire at all. Thoughts.

Re: XJS Backfire
Davidr, sounds about right, I'll pick up new cap and try it out, the quite smooth and low power seem a fair facsimile of what I have. Fingers crossed, I'll keep all informed.

XJS Backfire
Hi All Can anyone give me a pointer, took the XJS out today, stopped at the traffic lights all fine, accelerated to pull away and a huge back fire. Pulled over as the engine felt lumpy afterwards, not like a misfire more like a lumpy rumble. No smoke or anything at the exhaust on tickover, good oil...

Re: 1990 V12 5.3 expansion tank removal
Cheers Paul all the pipes.caps, hoses and the over flow catch tank were done last June by KWE, had a full cooling upgrade. It had a full service at the same time so hopefully the filter should be free, but I'll take your advice and be gentle. The only thing we didn't change and it's sods law isn't it...

1990 V12 5.3 expansion tank removal
After noticing a slight seeping from the side of expansion tank ( corrosion from inside), I'm going to change it out. I've got the tank, located the three nuts on the inner wing to remove it. A couple of questions before I start. 1: Will I lose all the fluid or just some and which is the better refi...

Re: power roof pump/motor
Hi David That makes sense, the hydrolics and roof points you make, I light greased and oil the hinge points before she went indoors for the winter, although I'm pleased to say I have managed to get at least 20 miles in most weeks just to keep her ticking.I dropped the hood in the garage yesterday to...

power roof pump/motor
Simple one I suppose, my power roof has gone on a go slow, only when raising from dropped, it's fine the other way. Can someone point me in the direction of the pump, I understand it may be in the boot but before I go dragging it all out is that correct. Worked just fine in the summer, but tried it ...

Re: Alarm/ imobiliser
Can't help as far as the alarm situation goes, but the immobilizer must be tied in to so many circuits, I'm sure that won't be easy and I agree with Davidr regarding insurance concerns. I can however recomend a NOCO battery charger/maintainer, I assume this is the same thing as a cconditioner, just ...

Re: Oil pressure gauge drop off.
At risk of getting away slightly from Dave's original post, later oil pressure gauges like my Celebration are the "comfort" type that show a nice steady reading. No use to Man nor beast but does stop nervous owners worrying that their oil pressure drops at tickover (which it should!). Mine has a li...

Re: Oil pressure gauge drop off.
Pop, that was certainly true of the facelift 4 litre cars. We're guessing that Dave has a standard 5.3 V12 version. I THINK that the same sensor part number was used on the V12s. I'd always recommending keeping the original type if it's working ok as it shows a more realistic pressure. Jaguar just ...

Re: Oil pressure gauge drop off.
Paul, no I didn't test the original, but I am planning to refit the original over the weekend and do just as you suggest, I think seeing as the gauge is doing the same with both senders, the fault is probably down stream.

Re: Oil pressure gauge drop off.
The printed circuit board on the back of the instruments is a likely area of bad connections. Fairly easy to take apart and clean and a good opportunity to replace the dim bulbs with LEDs Cheers poprivet, I've got a buddy to test things for me, I'm not the worlds best auto lec I have to admit, LED'...
