Re: Won’t start
Like you say a very long piece of string, what I would say is don't delete those codes with your OBD II reader. If you end up having to take it in to a Jaguar Specialist they will need to see the fault code trail to properly diagnose it.

Re: Seatbelts not retracting
I would assume because they contain either silicone or wax, it will have a slight lubricating effect? Still if doesn't work at least car will smell clean.

Re: Main Dealer or Independent Garage?
This doesn't surprise me one bit, I don't have much faith in main dealers although I'm sure some are very good. I run an independent company myself and understand the mindset of the small independent and for my money the independent is always going to try that bit harder and will deliver a better se...

Re: Ambient Air temperature
Greetings. I have a similar problem to this except my temp is reading -17 regardless then after 5 minutes driving it returns to the real temp. But at this point the climate control doesn't work properly still I can either have very cold or warm to hot there is no cool at all. so if I switch it from...

Re: F-Pace SVR
I can see the business case for selling these SUV's (because the public inexplicably wants to buy a poor compromise between a car and a 4x4 that isn't very good at being either) but I just wish Jaguar didn't have to! All F Paces will have space, the SVR will undoubtedly have pace but that big fat a...

I agree, I would certainly check these first.Probably a dodgy sensor or a loose connection?

Re: V6 Spark Plugs
For about the past fifteen years whenever I have replaced spark plugs I have always gone for Iridium, because (cribbed from the net)... A lower voltage is required, this reduces load on a vehicle's ignition system (less strain = less chance of failure) A larger gap can be supported without increasin...

Re: My first old Jaguar
I can only assume that the car was destined to be an XJR-S but never made the upgrade stage? I think that is the only logical explanation and as you say unless you are a time lord, you'll probably never know for sure. I think pretty much all the TWR records are missing or have been destroyed which ...

Re: Interior Re-Dye
Looks like an excellent and professional result, the key is being brave enough to have a go and being patient and not rushing it. I did the steering wheel on my S Type last year and it's looking good.

Re: My first old Jaguar
This R sold at auction in 2015 and was registered the month before yours, it lists the full spec as well as the VIN and engine No. so everything about your car should be pretty close to this one.https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auct ... wr-53-v12/

Re: My first old Jaguar
Actually after a little checking, I don't think the earlier 5.3's had the Sport rocker covers, I think these may have been added later in 1989 when the capacity was increased to 6.0l.
