Auto causing stalling
On a normal run my ’92 4.0 auto behaves perfectly, but when I am making tight manoeuvres i.e. getting it lined up to put it in the garage backwards and forwards several times in such a tight space it will stall, then refuse to start. If I leave it for half an hour, it will run enough to get it into ...

Re: My journey towards the dark side
Congrats on your new Merc. :D I used to use my XJS almost daily but like you park as far away as possible from everyone in car parks but they do seem to act as magnets. I soon started parking in the middle of the white line to stop people parking next to me. Worked for a while until someone squeezed...

Transmission Clonk!
Hi Mark I will go down the genuine Jaguar route, as I have been having a good poke around the underside and the anti-roll bar bushes are looking a bit squashed and may also need replacing. I have heard that aftermarket ones don’t last as long and using those polly-bush types around the car totally r...

Transmission Clonk!
Thanks for that Steve
I will get underneath and have a good poke around. Got the perfect excuse now to go and hide in the garage as my wife has decided to put her ‘Little House on the Prairie’ DVD on!!!!

Transmission Clonk!
I have an odd clonk from my auto box when reverse is selected. There is no noise when I reverse when the car has been standing, but when warm I get this clonk. To try and find the problem I have had the sump pan off, fluid spot on clean, replaced sieve filter and no nasties on the magnets. Put fresh...

Anyone else see this??
Great description, didn’t realise I had such a fantastic car!
Think of a price and double it parts. A martini on the continent? Is this code for a flask of coffee while waiting for the break down truck!
Must give it a polish before heading off to Monte Carlo!!

Power drain!!!!
Thanks for that Al I will give that a go tomorrow, looks straightforward. The fuse listings in my handbook and the green manual have the aerial on the middle fuse at 10 amps and doesn’t feed anything else. I assume this is the fuse I pull? Had a look at your website, you have got some excellent pict...

Power drain!!!!
Hi Mark Thanks for the extra advice. As I have said the aerial is fully retracted and does not even attempt to rise, seems dead. I have had a poke around the aerial today and a previous owner or someone has fitted a 15amp fuse to it when it should be a 10amp fuse. There are a lot of screwdriver scra...

Power drain!!!!
Hi Guys I have a toad immobiliser that is working ok? No alarm fitted. My electric aerial would only go half way up but retracted ok. Doesn’t raise at all now! Could it still cause a drain? The garage and auto electrician had my car hooked up to computers to fault find, an 18 year old Jag not totall...

Hi Paul Thanks for the welcome! I agree with you about the outboard brakes, when I first got mine I was unaware of the outboard brakes and the nightmare of replacing the inboard disks, or I would have set my sights on a later model. Yes my car is a runner, sound mechanically but rad looking a bit ro...

Power drain!!!!
This is starting to drive me nuts! I seem to have a 1 amp constant drain. I disconnect the battery after I have used the Jag and not lock it! I do this to save the battery and open the door as bizarrely turns into an 8 amp drain and ends up killing the battery if left connected. It has chewed up and...

Thanks for the welcome Simon! The first time I viewed my Jag I could have sworn it was metallic blue and the second viewing the same, bought it, got it home and realised it was green!! A great colour though. Electrical problems part and parcel? I think you need a degree to sort mine out! Then again ...
