Thanks for your reply Dave,
I am currently doing as you say - looking for a "good" reliable repair body shop. Recommendation is the best method so I will ask around at the region meeting on Wednesday to see what comes up.
Thanks for your advice.
Cheers Mike

Re: Series 1 Bonnet hinge panel
Thanks Alec, Yes I had already looked at Martin Robey and other suppliers, I Googled it because I found an item on Ebay which the seller claimed was a Jaguar Bonnet Hinge panel, whilst it looks similar to the part of the bonnet in question it did not detail which model. I asked the seller the questi...

Series 1 Bonnet hinge panel
I noticed when closing the bonnet on my XJ6 Daimler it started to twist as it closed and seemed to want to be on top of the offside front wing instead of inside it, I also noticed I was having trouble releasing the bonnet catch (the lever pulled out but the bonnet did not easily spring up). Further ...

Re: Series 1 Head Rest - Removal for new Foams
Well I raised this question a while ago and found a fix myself, the answer was - along the back of the seat the leather looks like it is formed into a seam but it is actually two pieces so you can ease the seam apart which gives access to free the headrest steel post clip and the whole thing should ...

Re: Inoperative electric window - Ser 1 XJ6
OK so it seemed like a good idea at the time but ........ Having put the window motor and regulator back in the door a quick test and it worked ok. I then demonstrated to the neighbours and yes it went down ok but would not go up again! Doh. There was no alternative but to strip it all off again onl...

Re: Inoperative electric window - Ser 1 XJ6
Well no matter what I tried I could not get the round motor to work, I checked the wiring against the passenger door motor and it was identical. So my conclusions are as follows. The series one motors are rectangular whilst the series two are round. The operating switches are somehow matched to the ...

Re: Inoperative electric window - Ser 1 XJ6
Thanks for the information Richard, I have picked up a couple of motors from fellow region members, they all work when connected to power and earth, it's just when I changed the drivers door one the motor does not operate from the switch. The only difference between the original motor and the donate...

Re: Inoperative electric window - Ser 1 XJ6
Thanks for your reply Mike but there are only two wires on the motor. I know some of the models had three wires but mine appears to only have the two. I believe the earthing is done through the switch, I.e. When the switch is lifted the power goes down one lead then back to the switch by the other w...

Inoperative electric window - Ser 1 XJ6
Drivers door window lowered but would not come back up, found to be a terminal on the motor had rotted through and become detached. Good working second hand motor obtained and fitted. The two wires from the new motor re-attached to the loom wires but the motor will not budge. If I connect one of the...

Re: Electric window motors ser 1
Well I replaced the motor with no issues (regarding fitting) before I secured everything properly. Now my mistake was I neglected to take any photos before removing the wiring and disconnecting the motor. Having put the new motor on and connecting it up I tried the switch - no joy either way and no ...

Re: Electric fuel flow switch on AED
Hello Steve, Thanks for your reply. I am going to try it on my S1 Daimler, which I think has suffered twice with failed AED's - both times a valve stem has snapped holing a piston. Weirdly the link you show is the exact one I had found myself. I will get one when I can sort out my PayPal account whi...

Re: Electric fuel flow switch on AED
Is your modification still working ok? Am I over simplifying, you just add an 'on or off' 12V solenoid in the fuel line to the AED which you switch off when the engine is at a suitable temperature?
Have you a part number and or supplier for a suitable solenoid?
Cheers Mike

Re: Water leaking into boot
I have now had a look in the boot at the parcel shelf drainage area. The card cover seems to be extensively water damaged and most of the steel cover panel fixings are very rusty. I have not removed the steel cover panel because I am nervous the fixings will shear off as I assume they are weld studs...

Re: Water leaking into boot
Thanks Oldtimer, What Robbie said makes sense because the card support trim which sits under the rear parcel shelf inside the boot is hanging down, so it seems to indicate it has been soaked with water for some time. I have not yet had time to look at it I will post when I have investigated. I didn'...
