No ignition switched 12V feed to radio
I have been battling with the radio on my 1992 XJRS. At some point in the past someone has wired the switched and permanent 12V inputs to the radio to the permanent (radio memory) feed from the car. This has caused it to keep blowing fuses. It turns out they have done this because there is no 12V fe...

Re: MANUAL XJR 300 FOR SALE
I saw this and my wallet nearly jumped out of my pocket. Thank god it's sold.

Re: Cam cover seal
You'd think that, but I've had pattern parts for various cars over the years that are completely unfit for purpose. I foolishly bought a complete set of pattern replacement water hoses for an MX5 and not a single one of the 8 or so hoses fitted properly without being cut to size. I've had thermostat...

Re: Correct battery for '92 XJR-S
Well spotted. My VIN is 184571 so I nearly made it! On a recommendation from the "help in a book" and a few other XJR-S members I have ordered a very expensive Optima battery that fits exactly where the old one went.

Hello, also from South Wales. May I ask who you are using for your Jaguar indie? I've been out of the fold for a while!

Re: Correct battery for '92 XJR-S
I've attached the Jaguar parts diagram for my battery tray. Apparently this is what was used for (V)179737 Up to (V)226645).

Re: Correct battery for '92 XJR-S
That's interesting, my battery tray doesn't clamp at the bottom, it has two rods that hook either side of the battery and screw through a frame that holds the battery down from above. I'll take pics of the tray and frame later when I get home. I found an old thread that said an 088 was the original ...

Correct battery for '92 XJR-S
I need to replace the battery in my '92 XJR-S. I keep reading that it should have an 096 size battery, but the dimensions of these are 175mm wide x 278mm long and the dimensions of the inside of the bracket for the top are 175mm x 255mm long. The current battery is far too small, I think it must hav...

Re: New XJR-S Owner, Gloucestershire
Nice to hear from an old owner! Allan seemed very sad to be moving it on so quickly, but I think it will be staying with me for the forseeable future. My current plan is to sort out the various paintwork issues in the spring, but for now I'm just thoroughly enjoying it.

Re: ski slope NEW cigar lighter bezels for sale
I have picked up one of these bezels myself, but I cannot work out how to remove the cigar lighter barrel from the old one. The barrel passes through the bezel and then has a plastic ring around the outside edge to stop it falling through. I am wary of applying too much force to get this plastic rin...

Re: New XJR-S Owner, Gloucestershire
I have now bought this car from the OP, and have already been enjoying it enormously. I'm (mostly) based in Cardiff. I'm already thoroughly looking forward to spending some time over the winter fettling the car and getting to know it better.
