Re: How easy to rebuild throttle body?
Inevitably, after a lot of searching and at one point coming to the conclusion that my lovely Daimler Super V8 was going to have to be scrapped, I contacted a few of the sages, Ken Jenkins, David Marks, Swallows. Ken said it was too new for him (!), Swallows said that I'd tried everyone they would h...

Re: Supercharger cover
Thanks for that Mike.
I can't say it makes much difference noise wise if it's on or off!

DQ

Re: How easy to rebuild throttle body?
Well, sent the throttle body off to VCUS Ltd in Nottingham for analysis/repair. Sent it back as beyond repair but no analysis report. Asked for the report but no reply. So, I now have a dead car! I've notified Spares Initiative and left a marker on Autoreserve Jaguar for a throttle body. TPS sensors...

Supercharger cover
Morning Founts of All Knowledge, My X350 SV8 has a plastic cover over the supercharger cooling chambers. It's insulated on the inside with a thin, black, padded liner. My Daimler Super 8 does not have such a cover. I suppose it may have done in the past but all the photos I've seen show the engine wit...

Re: Odd noise, rev associated.
Hi Brian, Thanks for the update. I turned off the A/C yesterday - not such a hot day - and the noise stopped. Did it a few more times and it's defintitely the A/C. I'll live with it for a while and when my Daimler is back on the road, I'll get the local garage to perform your tests. Thanks very much...

Re: Odd noise, rev associated.
Thanks for the thoughts, Brian.
Supercharger oil was changed about 6k miles ago. Possibly the first change, I don't know. I'll try turning th A/C off next time the days are cool enough!

DQ

Odd noise, rev associated.
Morning All, Yes, the dreaded "odd noise from the engine area" post. My Super V8, 2005, with > 250k miles recently had the gearbox rebuilt. The TC was slipping badly so a full rebuild was commissioned. Got it back and it's super smooth, changes quietly & smoothly, etc. All I could hear was the thrub...

Re: How easy to rebuild throttle body?
Hi Jim, Good idea. I'm aware of the spares initiative. I wonder whether it would be sufficiently lucrative for them though. I guess the X308 XJR & Daimler SV8 may share the same throttle body but I've fallen foul of that apparent similarity before! If they do, it may be worth their while. I'll try i...

Re: How easy to rebuild throttle body?
Hi Brian, Thanks for this reply. I am thinking of trying Autoreserve Jaguar for a replacement and then looking at the current one to see if i can do anything to prolong its life. From what I can see there are no new throttle bodies available for this car. SNG Barrett carry pictures but all stated to...

How easy to rebuild throttle body?
Morning All, My Daimler SV8 took me 12 miles from home and then showed DSC failure, ASC failure and Engine Failsafe Mode. I turned it off, waited 30 secs and tried again. Hi revs on start, settling to 1,000, same messages. Put it into gear and off we set at 10 mph. At least I got it home. Local gara...

Re: Gearbox rebuild
Morning All, Well, I bit the bullet and delivered my X350 SV8 to Bristol Transmissions in early December. Drove it up the M4 then M32 very gingerly as I was worried the TC might go at any moment. Luckily not too many steep hills en route. They were very helpful and I felt reassured that she was in s...

Re: P0400 code after sitting in traffic - 2001 Daimler Super V8
Hi Paul,
Haven't checked the codes and the MIL light is still on. The backfire cleared itself after a few miles and the engine was up to normal temperature.
I'll try it again in a couple of days after the bad weather we're about to get.

Re: P0400 code after sitting in traffic - 2001 Daimler Super V8
Took the car out yesterday after it sat for a week and became aware of what sounded like something loose hitting the back end.
Cut a long story short, the car was backfiring. It stopped after about 4 miles.
Could this be related to the EGR valve issue or something separate?
TIA

Re: P0400 code after sitting in traffic - 2001 Daimler Super V8
P0400 came back on a trip of about 60 miles a couple of days ago. After some main road driving, got onto a dual carriageway and up to just a little over 70 mph. Fine for a mile or two then the MIL light came on as I throttled back for a roundabout. Weird.
