Re: Upgraded Xk8 door hinge
The door hinge has been returned to Jaguar and I am awaiting the cheque to arrive. It was noted down as 'unfit for purpose' I spoke to the person who I have been dealing with in the parts department and once again he finished my sentance with regard to it kicking the door out. The hinge is a serious...

Re: Leaky doors
Hi mike It happens after both , only if it rains. Last weekend it was dripping off the back of the brake pedal! I can't find out where it's coming in and I don't want to go down the 'replace everything in logical order route' as while been very expensive a lot of the parts and seals are not availabl...

Re: Leaky doors
I know this is further down the line with regards to when I posted the original question but having purchased the car cover, which incidentally does keep the rain off but isn't exactly a good fit and has already scratched through the clearcoat in one place and left the odd slight whisper mark which ...

Re: Fault code reader
I have an early 96 Xk8 , however it has a 97 dated picking slip in it. However it is registered 96. I was going to but a icarsoft I 930 and contacted a retailer to confirm it would be suitable. After a lot of chasing around the answer was no, it would not be suitable. 2 years down the line (about 3 ...

Re: Upgraded Xk8 door hinge
Hi Many thanks for your reply. It is much appreciated and I will of course report what the outcome is. Following a lengthy conversation with my local dealer last Wednesday (03/06/19) I asked them to refer it to Jaguar Technical which normally takes a maximum of 24 hrs for a reply. I received a call ...

Upgraded Xk8 door hinge
Hi I have a worn drivers side botton door hinge on a 1996 XK8 coupe and have a new one ordered from Jaguar main dealer. It has arrived today and I paid and brought it home. After checking, it looks different to the one that is on, more substantial. I rang the dealer and they treble checked the numbe...

Re: Just done what I shouldnt!
Hi Finally managed to get the cover on the car and the sun has come out and is blazing hot .Definitely a need for these 8) Anyone watching would have seen 2 people who thought they knew what to do, but ended up having a good laugh at their ineptitude. Neighbours compimented me on the cover and then ...

Re: Just done what I shouldnt!
Hi Andy Many thanks for the reply, it is very much appreciated. I would have purchased a cover 2-3 years ago but I always had the nagging feeling that I shouldn't due to the problems. I tried to convince myself it was right but that feeling was nagging away. They certainly sell a lot of them. This o...

Just done what I shouldnt!
Hi Having read all the posts over the years on ' don't use a car cover' I havent. However due to water coming in from pinched door seals in both doors and soaking the floorwells I have relented and just purchased a cover. Apparently it can be put on wet and the condesation evaporates and the company...

Re: Leaky doors
Hi I have the same problem on my 1996 coupe for a while now . It had started to soak the floorpans, more on the drivers side than passenger coming in over the drivers side fuse box cover and from the A post pillar on the passenger side. There is also water appearing at the back of the accelerator pe...

Re: Corrosion on A pillar
What Pat has clearly identified is known as Filiform corrosion. When working in the aircraft repair business, I could see examples of it every day on light aircraft air frames. This link will tell you more about this particular form of corrosion.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&sourc...

Re: Corrosion on A pillar
I can't help thinking that if someone is selling one of their five cars it would be the worst one? Hi Strangely enough , it wasn't. There were 2 which needed a little TLC but the other 3 were in good condition, another one of which will be coming up for sale soon. This one was in overall good condi...

Re: Corrosion on A pillar
Hi Many thanks for your comprehensive replies. You have clarified all the thought's that were going through my mind. The car is a 2003 4.2 sport with just over 100k on the clock. The marks on the A pillar are spidery and so far under the surface, but just about to break through. They eminate from un...

Re: To remove or not to remove
Pizza for a month doesn't sound a bad idea! :D The former rock musician sounds like they had good taste and you have had 2 nice 308's I am looking for the xj because my other half isn't too well and hasn't been since he was 11. The xk8 was something he always wanted and I reckon he was born with a s...
