Replacing bottom of rear wings on 2005 xkr-s.
I have corrosion round the bottoms of the rear wings of my 2005 XKR-S. David Marks gave me a quote using second hand panels (bottom parts only).I believe new parts can be obtained but have conflicting reports of quality.I live in Sheffield so it would be more convenient if anyone local could be reco...

gearbox service
I live in Sheffield and need to have my 2005 xkr gearbox serviced. Can anyone recommend a garage that is local please as the usual specialists (xjk,David Marks) mean a hotel stay plus the travel which increases the cost substantially.I notice that some garages say that it can be done in the same day ...

xkr brembo rear brake disc replacement
I would like to replace the original Brembo rear discs and pads.My car is a 2005 XKR 4.2S Carbon fibre limited edition.I am looking for good quality and a fair price (not brembo prices). Some aftermarket suppliers do not inspire confidence when I have called them.surely the vin number should be foolp...

noise from rear whilst driving
Last week whilst driving I heard a noise which seems to point to a similar problem to SCIMI1 because it sounded to be as though the fuel tank was pulling a vacuum and then releasing it causing a "boing"type of noise. As SCIMI1 finished up having to have a damaged tank replaced I feel this problem nee...

Re: NEW OWNER
Hi Doug, reading your post reminded me of seeing a seafrost XK with ivory interior. It was in San Francisco whilst we were on honeymoon 2003.Both my wife and I stopped and stared and said what a classy looking car.Great choice.Enjoy. Paul

Re: headlamp silver
Hi Painter, most of us seem to have problems with these headlamps.I believe that for about £150 just the front section with the silvered surface can be purchased aftermarket. This clips to the main body but you need to make sure that the seal is good.I had water in mine but the burner for the HID lamp...
2009 xfr
I am tempted by the above model.Having owned my xkr 4.2s for 4 years (2005 carbon fibre LE) The xfr feels very luxurious and not surprisingly much more modern.Does anyone have experience of both cars or just an informed opinion? Also these particular models do not appear in Glasses guide and I think ...

Road noise.
I have a last of the old shape XKR and find the car very noisy on the motorway. My previous Stype sport obviously had smaller wheels and tyres but was much quieter. Is there a sound deadening kit available aftermarket. The car has 20ins wheels and Dunlop sport Max tryes( nearly new). They seem no more n...

Could anyone please let me know if they have had this done anywhere local to Sheffield please.I have had many and various quotes for this job.The price has differed by as much as £250 from cheapest to the most expensive and time wise from half a day to overnight. My xkr has 46000 miles recorded but I...

Re: noise under braking.
Thanks a lot guys for your advice. The discs are past their best so I will probably invest in new discs and pads anyway and see if that makes a difference.Finding the best compromise between price and quality seems to be difficult.I dont drive like my pants are on fire but would still expect good ret...

noise under braking.
I have noticed recently that on braking from moderate speeds there appears to be a noise sounds like a Spifire coming in to land 9(droning noise) it seems to emanate from the front end.Could this be the brakes or maybe a wheel bearing there is no noise whilst driving only under braking.Regards Paul.

Re: headlamp condensation.
Many thanks Mike and Nick for your replies. Its a relief to know that the headlight should last a while even with the condensation.I had considered the silica gel but thought it would need to be in the headlight itself.I now have the confidence to try it. Paul.

Full beam bulbs.XKR 2005
The difference between dip and full beam seems small. My S type sport was fitted with halogen dipped beam and my present XKR has the Bi Xenon dipped beam.Is this the reason the improvement appears less or does someone know of an upgrade bulb that would improve full beam illumination please?
