240 carbs
Hi. Can anyone confirm the model of SU carburettors fitted to the Jaguar240 please.
It’s probably there but I can’t find reference to it in the manual

Thanks. I thought that might be the case.

Wiper sweep adjustment
I’ve noticed that the wipers do not perform a complete arc towards the base of the screen particularly on slow speed. They cover more of the screen on full speed and park correctly.
Can I adjust the sweep?

New radiator for 240
The radiator in my 240 is at least 32 years old and was recored about 20 years ago when I had aircon fitted. Since then it has run well on an electric fan but has recently started to get hotter than usual at 80-90 on the temperature gauge. Flushing has improved it slightly but my mechanic says the c...

Re: Kenlowe fan - improving the mounting
I have an electric fan in front of the radiator installed by Clayton when they installed air on a few years ago. I assume this pushes air through the radiator. They fitted it on brackets and fitted a manual switch which I tend to leave on as there is little chance of the car running cold! After many...

Re: Removing glovebox mk 2
Thanks Alec.
I’ll bear that in mind.
I’ve had all of the dashboard out in the past for refurbishment but as that was probably twenty five years ago I now don’t have the foggiest idea how I did it. The penalty of getting old ....

Re: Removing glovebox mk 2
Timely post as I need to replace the screenwasher tube from the bottle into the car.
Hopefully I can access the washer nozzle and tee piece from behind the glove box.

Re: MK2 60th Anniversary Celebration
The Mark2 60th Anniversary event held at CMC Bridgnorth was a great event with many Mark2s and other makes and models there. Shame that there were two events on the same day which would have split attendance so I’m sure in a lot of cases it would be which one was nearest home! I booked into cmc last...

Re: Grinding clutch
Hi Doherty. Glad to hear you seem to have solved your problem. Just an update on my clutch situation which is something of a mystery. A couple of weeks after my clutch was replaced I did the JEC Wonders of Wales run and on the first day when I stopped the car wouldn’t go into reverse with the engine...

Re: Grinding clutch
Hi, My thrust bearing is of the solid graphite type in a cast iron housing and looking at a schematic seems to just slide to and fro rather than rotate. Follow up on the wrong part! I’ve been to SNG Barrett’s and they say they know there are two different types of thrust bearing for the 240. The one...

Re: Grinding clutch
Don’t know if This helps but I have just had the clutch replaced in my 240 after at least 32 years use and the garage I used had a problem with the thrust bearing. The part no is HD 1099 and I obtained one from SNG Barrett’s per their parts list. When the garage dropped the gearbox and removed the o...

Thermostat for 240
My 240 has Clayton air conditioning and updated heating and an electric fan. For the last few years the temperature has rarely gone above 70 degrees but for the last couple of weeks has probably been around 80 degrees. Optimistically I’m assuming this may be partially due to the ambient temperature ...

Re: Glove box lock
If it’s any help, my 240 has the same key for the boot and glove box and a different one for ignition and front doors. Might be worth trying the boot key to see if it works.
Having said that I would have thought that, when new, there would have been the same key for all locks.
Cheers
Pete
