Re: Jaguar part numbers for X351 rear sub frame items
Hi Andy, I am most grateful for your information. Very helpful. I too looked at the forums in America and in some cases they seem to be better served. I am at a loss to understand why Jaguar want make owning one such a challenge! On a positive note I have managed to find some part numbers from https...

Jaguar part numbers for X351 rear sub frame items
Hello everyone, I have recently added a 2011 X351 3.0 d to my XF and XJS. I want to deal with some rust issues around the rear subframe but I cannot find any part numbers on any website or in the Workshop Manual. A parts catalogue does not seem to exist. SNG Barratts list many parts and numbers but ...

Re: No French Clean Air certificate for the XJS ?
Paul, thank you so much for the update. Being a belt and braces kind of chap I probably carry much more than required.
Nonetheless, all the help and advice I get from this forum goes a long way to ensuring trouble free motoring in Europe.
Many thanks,
Jerome

Re: No French Clean Air certificate for the XJS ?
SimonR, thank you for your very helpful response. Happily the car is in very good condition and I carry all the requirements of French law. I will have evidence of the car's age with me, so on what you say, hope I will be waived on my way :D I know France well and have spent time working there, I kn...

No French Clean Air certificate for the XJS ?
I regularly drive all over Europe in my XF which in line with French Law displays a Crit' Air sticker for driving in France. This year I will be attending the Classic Le Mans racing in my XJS and so applied for a Crit' Air sticker for my 1993 XJS 4.0. The French Government site states that the car d...

Re: Auto electricians, Cheshire
Thank you gentlemen for your suggestions and advice. I will investigate them all and let you know how I get on. If you don't hear from me I have probably blown myself and the car into oblivion!

Auto electricians, Cheshire
I live in Nantwich, South Cheshire and I am having trouble finding a qualified Auto Electrician who is not scared of working on a 1993 XJS 4.0 Air Con. I have tried all the obvious ones in my area and they all back off as soon as I mention XJS and Air Con. Some do not even reply to my enquiries. The...

Re: Classic car breakdown cover in Europe
And finally! I rang my classic car insurer to ask if they knew of any breakdown service for classics in Europe. Lo and behold, they can add it to my existing insurance policy for £75 per year extra to cover breakdowns in the UK and Europe. The cover is with the RAC through arrangement with my insure...

Re: Classic car breakdown cover in Europe
Hi David, after six days (four working days) the RAC replied to say they did not know and I should contact my bank. I contacted the bank and eventually they told me the car could not be older than 12 years. Why don't they make it clear in the policies? getting information is like pulling teeth!. So,...

Re: Classic car breakdown cover in Europe
Thank you David. What you say about the AA is interesting and has got me thinking. I have RAC cover in the UK and Europe included in a travel pack from my bank. I presumed they would only cover modern cars in Europe but when I checked the policy it was not clear. I have messaged the RAC for clarific...

Classic car breakdown cover in Europe
I am planning to attend the Le Mans Classic this year and would like to go in my 1993 XJS 4.0. The car is in good condition and I use it regularly without any breakdown anxieties. However, I have never taken it abroad but I know many of you have taken your classics into Europe. I wonder if anyone ha...

Re: Front springs for facelift
Thank you Nick for your very comprehensive advice. Sadly, health issues are presently preventing me from working on the car so I will pass your advice to my friendly garage proprietor (comfortably old school) who will be doing the job. Many thanks again and good luck when you apply the change to you...

Front springs for facelift
I have a 1993.5 big bumper facelift 4.0 coupe. Last year I replaced all the rear suspension and the shockers on the front. The car still sits high at the front. I want to replace the front springs but all Jag originals are no longer available. Can anyone suggest suitable springs.

Re: Correct coolant pressure cap
Thank you for that. I will fit that one in the hope it will get rid of a false level warning. A problem which started after my garage checked all fluid levels during a service. Just wonder if they put the wrong cap back. Still confusing having both caps described as correct for the car. I am gratefu...

Correct coolant pressure cap
Does anyone know the correct expansion tank kPa pressure cap for a 2012 XF 2.2d.
There are two, 140 kPa and 200 kPa, both claiming to be the correct one.
What would be the effect of having the wrong one fitted?
