Re: Veneer repairs
Unfortunately, I did not get any responses to my request so had to have a go myself. Didn't turn out too bad but hopefully never again.

Veneer repairs
Hi all, I'm back now after nearly a year following open heart surgery and I have restarted my restoration again. However in my current phase of prepping everything I can so that I am doing bench work instead of crawling all over the car yet, I have come across a problem which hopefully someone can h...

Re: Recommended spares to carry.
Thank you Mike for your reply. Thankfully the tour is supported all the way by an English couple who live in France AND a French mechanic so maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. A full service and fingers crossed I guess. Thanks again. Tony D

Recommended spares to carry.
Hi all, I am new to this forum as I recently purchased a 2003 X350 on a bit of a whim. In 2003 we attended, in our Japanese import 13k miles Xj40, a fantastically well organised and supported tour in France following the adventures of Richard the Lionheart, along with 20 other Jags. Unfortunately in...

Re: No Oil Pressure
Thistle, yes you are correct that by grounding the wire on the sender unit, a working gague will read the maximum deflection. I'm not sure about having the sender tested although if the resistance between the connection on the sender unit and earth with the engine running is zero then it's open circ...

Originally I priced my car as advised which seamed reasonable for the mileage and history. However following little interest I spoke with Bonhams and have now relisted my car in line with their valuation. Tony D

Re: Mark 2 Battery
Thistle, I am not a purist so would always replace my battery with one of as high an Ampere hour rating as will physically fit. I believe that the original dynamo output was about 45Amps, my alternator is 70 Amps, but if your car has been modified with electric power steering, spot lights air con et...

Re: heater fan speeds
James, just to clarify, measure the resister on Ohms without the heater switch being on. Then switch on the ignition, and heater switch in both positions, to test the voltages. Tony D

Re: heater fan speeds
James, I have just measured my resistor at 2 Ohms although I have not disconnected it from the circuit. I suggest that if only one speed is working, and the resistor is faulty, you will only have full speed fan. If you only have slow speed fan then the resistor is ok and you have another problem. Ba...
