Re: Alien engine and transmission swaps?
Hi Peter Sorry, I didn't spot that your car had the Chevy V8  I never knew swapping engines was called "lumping"! Zonda set up sounds good - no need to worry about fitting between the chassis rails, it can go in the boot... My car history has a Hot-Rod or two in it but I particularly like them...

Alien engine and transmission swaps?
Just wondering how many here run E-Types with non-Jaguar propulsion units... V8 from one of the 'Big Three', perhaps? Daydreaming today, I came up with a (not realistic!) plan to find a healthy Mercedes V12-powered saloon and transfer engine, transmission and so on into an E-Type. Then I added two t...

" I am now embarked on other ways of staying insolvent"
Very funny and too true for so many of us!
Best of luck for the restoration - from a relative Newbie who also comes from London.

Re: S2 OTS back on road after 26 years
Hi there
Congratulations on getting your car back on the road - it looks perfect, especially in that colour.
I am about to change tyres on mine and wonder what make, model and size your tyres are please?
Thank you

Re: xk8 to e type?
Hello again Second attempt at second reply.... Sounds to me like you're ready for an E-Type! Parts prices are low for the E-Type and labour rates are the same, presumably, for both cars. I would hazard a guess that an older car will need more work to keep it on the road though. Good luck, I hope you...

Re: xk8 to e type?
Hi I'm no expert but would suggest getting as many test drives in as many versions of E-Type as you can. Once you decide you still want one and which version it will be, check out a few as every single one out there is very different from the next. The XK8 and E-Type are centuries apart in virtually...

Re: Overheated on shut-down - ignition light on - help!!
All sorted, thanks to Birks Motorsport.
Two separate faults - bad connection on regulator meant ignition light on though it was charging fine.
Failed after-market fan switch faulty. No fans = high temp!

Thank you!!
Panic subsiding a little now...
Fingers crossed so tightly even typing this is tricky!
Needs to be fit again for round Britain trip (one leg only) so I'd better get it sorted.
Thanks again

Overheated on shut-down - ignition light on - help!!
Hi All Please share knowledge if you can help me - all very gratefully received! My car (S3 V12) has run perfectly for the last few hundred miles. Including hours stuck in traffic on hot days. My out journey today was about 25 miles, with one stop. All fine. Before setting-off for my return, I tried...

Another Newbie
Hi One and All Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member - I joined just after the Hambleden gathering a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I have found the car I was looking for. A nice, useable S111 2+2 which became mine (just) in time for the meeting at Sudeley last weekend. This is a return ...
