Re: Is a Jag Mk 2, 3.8L manual gearbox (1965) difficult to drive?
Many thanks, Tilleyjon, Rictus, 3.8etypejag and PatK. Sorry not to have replied earlier but just back after a few days away. Your comments would seem to reinforce my observations - I'm really looking forward to trying out another Mk 2 3.8 when the chance arises, as I find it hard to believe that wha...

Re: Is a Jag Mk 2, 3.8L manual gearbox (1965) difficult to drive?
Many thanks, and I now realise that "accelerate" only has one "l".
I didn't mention the steering, which had rather a lot of play and, whilst power-assisted felt cumbersome, as I didn't want to swamp the post with too many details!

Is a Jag Mk 2, 3.8L manual gearbox (1965) difficult to drive?
We hired one for the day on Saturday from a Midlands firm. I appreciate that it is a 52-year-old car and that it can take a while to acclimatise to any car which one is not used to driving, but I felt as though it was my first driving lesson! I regard myself as an experienced driver, having been beh...

Re: S Type problem with fault codes
Hi there! I'd just drafted out my message and then saw there had been more activity on the subject which is leading me to think that I might have a duff battery as well. Basically, I was wondering whether disconnecting the battery for a few days might do any harm (I can't see why it should). We're g...

Re: New Owner S-Type V6 3.0 SE
Greetings, Ventis Secundis - did you learn latin at school as well? Welcome to the forum! Glad you like the S-type. It took me a while to take the plunge but now loving the car more and more by the day. Just done a 690-mile round trip between Hampshire and SW Scotland and the old tub behaved perfect...

Re: Plastic quality of coolant hoses - a timely warning
That's very helpful - thanks, Mike. Will certainly see that the breather pipe unions are attended to at the next service (had the gearbox serviced/new oil the other week - alot quieter now).

Re: Plastic quality of coolant hoses - a timely warning
I was wondering whether anyone else had had this problem. The point at which the header tank (this one's at the front of the engine compartment) hose joins the plastic coolant housing sheared last week. Fortunately, we were driving through a village, so not at speed and were able to pull over prompt...

Re: Distant Beeping Sound
Many thanks, Jeff - sorry not to reply sooner, but I thought that I'd get an email prompt to say someone had replied to the post. I've certainly got rear parking assist but don't think I've got it at the front. It's that sort of noise, though (except a lot quieter) and only happens when the car is o...
