Parts and equipment available
After about 9 years of ownership, I've sadly sold my X-350 Super V8. I acquired quite a few spares and equipment in that time. Some of the parts I bought but never got round to fitting. I'm offering these things to club members before I list everything on eBay. I should be able to send further photo...

Re: Series 1 chrome headlamp surround fixing.
I need to retract my earlier comment. I've just found out the screws were changed to pozi-drive in April 1964. So correct for most cars.

Re: 2+2 handbrake cable installation
I agree. The first thing i would do is buy a cable C30221 and see if it fixes the problem.

Re: Series 1 chrome headlamp surround fixing.
Hi Simon
I'm not sure about those screws. They are posi drive, but the origanals are slotted.
Eitherway, they scew into captive nuts - small rectangular bits of metal with a hole drilled and tapped held in place by a small cage. You need to check these are still there.
Let us know how you get on.

I suggest you try Hardy Engineering. See what they say. They have a good reputation for Jaguar diffs and gearboxes.

We featured interior trimming in some recent e-type sections of the magazine. Have a look back at your old copies, say over the last 2 years.

Re: Jacking to change front air strut
Well the first time, it simply didn't come out at all. I removed the air strut and lower arm together and used a combination of angle grinder, die grinder and drill and tap. And a new bolt. Ever since then, I haven't had a problem. I think a bit of grease on reassembly and removing them from time to...

Re: Jacking to change front air strut
Hi Paul, I replaced a front air strut a few weeks ago, admittedly I used my 4 poster lift which made it a lot easier but I don't see why you can't do what you suggest. My question would be how you're going to jack it up and then support it. Would that be under the sill? The key is to get enough grou...

Re: X358 Park Brake fault
It is possible to replace the EPB motor without dropping the axle. Its not easy though. Was this not in a recent magzine?
I would haave thought recalibrating it would fix the probem as Paul descibes.

Re: Severe pinking (pre-ignition) 4.2 SV8 2005
I thought there were anti knock sensors. Top of the engine, but under the superchaarger. It would be worth looking into whether they are working and/or still attached.

Re: Front anti-roll bar bushes - ARB bushes
So an addendum to the above thread. The poly bushes started squeaking after a year or two and was driving me mad every time I drove over a bump. As it happened I had a pair of genuine Jaguar second hand bushes that I got with some other spares. A few months ago when I was changing out the heater aux...

You can try Automec, but when I asked a while ago for my 2005 car, they didn't do kits, but will make up lines to your length.

Re: 2002 S Type R Caliper Repair Help
I think what you suggest should work but you will get brake fluid shooting out under high pressure. I suggest compressed air as I assume you will remove the caliper from the car to replace the seals. I am assuming you have an air compressor. The key is to get the stuck piston out before any of the o...

Re: 2002 S Type R Caliper Repair Help
Does the STR have Brembo barkes? If so, then I'm in the middle of a similar job for similiar reasons on my X350. I bought a seal kit off eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330927717049 It may be the same if you have the same calipers. One diffeculty you face is getting the siezed piston out. You might...

Re: Parasitic battery drain
I see no one has really addressed the real question here, that of an auto electrician. I'm not sure how much I can help, it's been a long time since I've lived in this part of the country, but I used to live a little bit further south in Oxfordshire. When I first had my Jaguars in the early 1990s, I...
