Thanks 'almcl'. I did think it was that one but as I said there are that blooming many sensors listed.
I bet this isn't one of the items that are on any of the sales lists.
Cheers again.

Can anybody tell me the part number for the temperture sender which 'controls' the temperature gauge on a 87 5.3?
There are quite a number of switches listed but I just want to check I am looking at the right item.
Many Thanks

If Not Metric?
I've recently done a partial refurb on my IRS. Most of the nuts and bolts were UNF.
Oh this is on an 87 plate 5.3

I have checked the exhaust and re-done the raddius arm bolts but I am still getting a bang when I go over a dip or hole in the road. I have had a quick look under the car for any marks indicating where the noise could be coming from but haven't seen anything. Can anyone offer more options? Cheers St...

Idiots guide to temperature problems?
I re-checked the system including opening the air release valve and was able to top the water up a little more. Sat in the car and started the engine. The gauge started to rise then suddenly dropped again. After that it sat on normal while I revved teh engine then took it for a 2 mile drive and back...

Cheers Pop I did have a bit of trouble setting the passenger side back box so I will check it.
The noise does seem a bit more 'solid' it you know what I mean as thogh it is something sold rather tahn hollow.
If it isn't the exhaust does anybody have any other ides?

I have just replaced my rear shock, springs and brake calipers after taking the IRS cage out. After putting it back in and taking it out for a test there was a banging sound when I went over a dip. It appeared to be from the drivers side but I am not sure. Everything went back on using my torque wre...

Idiots guide to temperature problems?
I checked the water level last night and although I topped up about 1 litre there was obviously a reasonable amount. I will need to check more horoughly for air locks though. I can easily see thepassenger side(I can never remember if that is classed as the left or right side) thermostat but can't as...

Idiots guide to temperature problems?
I have just replaced all the brake calipers and rear springs/shocks on my 87 V12. My last journey in this car was to the spares day and at that time had no problem with engine temperature. Yesterday however I took the cart on a gentle run to test the brakes fully. I was only out for about 5 minutes ...

Treating IRS
I have recently removed my IRS cage to carry out some remedial works including replacing shock/springs and break calipers. I have also taken the oppurtunity to check for any rust problems. I have treated some areas for surface rust and propose painting where possible but for the areas that can't be ...
