Remove the headlamp bowls in the bonnet, this will give you access to the bonnet hinges at the front, remove the 2 hinge bolts, this may allow the bonnet to be raised at the front to allow you access to the bonnet catches at the rear, be very carefull in supporting the bonnet as you raise it. Sun roof removal
Tilt the sunroof up, slide the underside trim towards the rear and remove above the roof. Undo 3 torx headed screws either side and lift the panel away, I believe the screws are T30. Stick with an E Type colour for your year, I don't think you will find a paint supplier who still has old colour chips, I bought some original colour brochures from Andrew Swift, his contact details are in the mag. Martin Robey also supply the xj40 repair panel, and yes they do fit the x300 with a little bit of trimming. I think you might find that the bonding fixing the glass to the aperture is breaking down, so the only cause of action is to have the glass removed and any remedial work carried out on the scuttle before re-bonding the
glass back in.
