Reversing camera
I have a 2003 XK8 and I have purchased and wish to install a reversing camera. I attach a photo of the camera installation booklet which shows that the red (positive) wire should be connected to the reversing light power wire and the black (negative) wire to ground. Seems easy enough, but which wire...

Replacing bulbs in the radio in the central console
In my 2003 S-Type The lighting behind the radio is so dull (original green light) it is unreadable at night and nowhere near as bright as the climate control panel. Is it possible to replace the light bulbs in the radio or is it a sealed unit, I can remove the radio but I don’t want to do that unles...

Gearbox whine
My 2003 XK8 has the standard six speed ZF automatic j gate gearbox and earlier this year developed a whine when accelerating in the lower gears which becomes more pronounced as the engine gets up to temperature. I have taken it to a ZF specialist who thinks it may be the pump at fault but he needs t...

Re: Gearbox
Hi ,with regard to the whine on the XK8 gearbox, I have had it into a ZF specialist who thinks it sounds like the pump may be at fault. As I have no knowledge of gearboxes I was not aware there is a pump in the gearbox. Anyway the diagnosis is that he will have to have the box off to inspect it and ...

Re: Gearbox
Hi again,
I dont think the problem is the diff as the whine only occurs in the lower gear ratios, but we have a ZF specialist in Sheffield so I am trying him this week. I will post any progress. Thanks for your interest and replies

Re: Gearbox
Hi again, Additional information tothe above. The car drives smoothly and powerfully with excellent response on gearchanges except for an occasional lurch in changing from first to second and no sign of fault codes or fault lights ,just that infuriating whine, which started about a year ago. The car ...

Re: Gearbox
Sorry to be so late coming back on this I have been away for the winter, the gearbox service included reflashing and the oil used cost £380 and I was assured by Sheffield Prestige that it was the correct oil. Unfortunately the whining persists and seems to be getting worse with the main noise occurr...

Gearbox
I have a 2003 XK8 and I had a problem with the gearchange in that it sometimes clunked when taking off from stationary presumably the change form 1st to second. I had the gearbox serviced by a Jaguar specialist about 18 months ago but it didn’t seem to cure the problem. I now have got used to soft f...

Re: Oxygen sensors
On the subject of oxygen sensors and fault codes. I have recently had the engine light come on in my 2003 xk8. I have a code reader which shows fault code P1647. Looking up the code it translates as “Linear O2 sensor control chip (bank 2)”. Putting this into SNG Barratt website and British Motor Par...

Re: Stalling and misfiring when cold
Hello , On my 2003 xk8 something similar to the subject of this post happened today. The car stands out in all weathers and I do not use it every day but it has never done this before. I have done a fair mileage over the past few days including a 100 oddmile trip across country with no problem but t...

Re: Oil cooler radiator
I have seen an offer on British Parts site for an engine oil cooler rad for a very cheap price but it says it is for a 2005 onwards model XK8. Will this fit my 2003 XK8 as it seems to be massively cheaper than the correct one?

Re: Convertible Hood Oil
Hi Mike, is the JLM21112 fluid for the flushing or is that also the operating fluid so I can try topping up the reservoir with it as a temporary step?

Re: Convertible Hood Oil
Hi Mike, found a good post on "Pistonheads" showing full replacement procedure (with photos ) for fluid pipes but hopefully won't need to go that far. Also suggested a syringe and plastic tube to refill reservoir after flushing. I can use that for topping up.Can you tell me what flushing fluid to us...
