420 1968 'Goldie' steel sunroof -interior liner
I have a 1968 420 which has a steel sliding sunroof (electric!) Having removed the interior lining panel in order to remove the steel roof during a full respray, I have the roof re-installed and working correctly BUT I can't fathom how to refit the interior lining cloth covered frame. I last did thi...

Re: 1974 series 2 4.2 difficult to start after 60 mile run
Does your distributor have condenser in it? Many years ago I had an MGB and after fitting a new condenser points etc it still did the annoying thing of going to 'tick-over' - and wouldn't rev when trying to emerge from a crossroads! It also cut out completely on occasion. I took it to a garage - who...

i also keep getting the "Air Suspension Fault" warning on the dash! Mine is a 2006 XJ Sovereign LWB model. On inspecting the Rear L/H Connector in the boot I found that someone had 'forced' the connector without aligning properly - and damaged the Pins! On top of the strut is a conical alu cover ret...

XJ350 2006 SOV CATS
I have a warning light on the dash which I have traced to a damaged sensor on top of the rear shock - the two prongs have been crushed by the guy before me . He fitted a new shock but then proceeded to force the connector down without aligning the two (female) recesses. My local Jag guy says I have ...

Re: X300 Bonnet Locks
Looks fine - but once the cable has actually broken you are in the deep stuff! Only way to release then is to cut holes in the outer panel behind the wheel arch plastic trim and then the 'box' section then the Inner wing panel. If you can't weld a plate back afterwards the plastic trim under the bon...

Re: X300 Bonnet Locks
I ended up 'carving' a double skinned area of the inner wing and finally released the 'latch' with a thin bent flat screwdriver! This was before I saw your Post but thanks for the info.[pic=][/pic] Think I cut more inner wing than I needed to but Hey Ho! Adecent hole-saw might have helked but I only...

Re: X300 Bonnet Locks
In fact the cable has come undone! Short of cutting away at the inner wing - what can I do to release the catch?!!!

X300 Bonnet Locks
My X300 bonnet is only releasing on the Drivers side!
Any one have a trick for releasing the n/s catch please?
I'm sure its not a broken cable - probably just 'stretched' enough to not actually release the catch.

Re: Converting carbs to manual choke.
I have a owned a 420 since 1984! The vacuum choke - solenoid operated from the Otter switch - works perfectly!!! The previous owner had put a toggle switch just under the Dash -to enable him to turn the 'choke' off as soon as the car was on a fast road! This can be wired to interrupt the power suppl...

Re: Alarm xk8 2005
My 2006 (56) XK is on its THIRD alarm siren module! It has only covered 46000 miles so I find these units of very poor quality - as when I opened one up to see if I could replace the re-chargeable battery I found in both cases that the pcb was horribly corroded. This gives rise to the "clicking fing...
