Re: Engine Corrosion
I have just had an injector fail and the two others on the same bank (3.0l V6) misfire. Whilst attempting to replace all three, the Jaguar dealer has struggled to remove two of them due to corrosion between the injector and the head. They are claiming they will have to remove the engine to get the h...

Re: 123 tune advance curves
Hi Tom,
Can you confirm that you have 10 degrees static set on the dizzy, so your 123 figures are all plus 10.
Giving all in figures of 42 degrees from the rolling Road session and 36 degrees as your best road performance figures.
Thanks
Dave

Re: 123 tune advance curves
I have been p[laying with the advance curve. The one in the first post left the engine sluggish. So I increased the total advance and it was much more urgent and revved much better. So I then increased the steepness of the mid range curve (1500 - 2500) and it was better. So this is what I have ended...

123 tune advance curves
Hi, I hope someone can help. I have a 123 tune on my 1962, 3.8 mk2. It is standard apart from a classic fabs exhaust manifold and large bore system and, of course, the 123 tune. It is 8:1 compression, compression values of between 150 and 160 PSI. I am trying to set up the advance curves and I am ge...

I need to give my exhaust away
I have replaced my exhaust with a classic fabs one and have a perfectly serviceable standard exhaust to get rid of. Looks like it is stainless steel.
Free to anyone who will collect from Hertfordshire, sg11.

Re: Cooling system failure
Hi Mike, Yes, regular checks are a good idea. I must have become lazy after owning a Honda for 16 years and not having to check things like coolant hoses. However, I have now got the diagnosis and the water pump and a hose underneath the supercharger need replacing - things that a visual check would...

Cooling system failure
Hi, I know this is in the wrong section, but I cannot create a new topic in the cooling system section. Please could a moderator shift it? Thanks Just thought I would share my experience with fellow f type owners so they are aware of the issues. I had a plastic coolant pipe break in the week. I have...

Re: Mixture changes after exhaust manifold change
Hi Mike, Thanks for you response. I have now fitted the exhaust and adjusted the mixture at idle, but that just sets the mixture at idle. When driving, the needle meters fuel at various rates depending on the profile of the needle, the vacuum, throttle position, spring rate and dashpot oil viscosity...

Mixture changes after exhaust manifold change
Hi, I am about to fit a new 2 inch stainless steel exhaust system, including tubular manifolds. Will the standard needles (I think I have the slightly richer, c1 needles at the moment) still give correct air fuel mixture? If not, what ones would you suggest? It is a fairly standard 3.8 with k & n ai...

Re: Clunk!
Just taken her for another spin and listened more carefully and thought about it a bit more and I think it may be the prop shaft. How much wear does there have to be in a UJ on a prop shaft to make an audible clunk?
Could it be a gearbox mount?

Clunk!
Hi, Straight to the point - if I pull away quickly, I get a clunk that seems to come from underneath the car. If I pull away normally, no clunk. It sounds like it is to the rear of the gearbox or a bit further back. It only happens on pulling away never on deceleration. I will look underneath at the...

Re: Does your dash clock work?
Hi PPV,
This company will fix your clock if it is not working. They also sell a DIY kit.

I have no personal experience of the kit and I have no link with the company but I intend to purchase the diy kit shortly.

Re: Synthetic oil
Hi, I am using 20/50 oil. This is the stuff - http://www.millersoils.co.uk/automotive/tds-automotive.asp?prodsegmentID=1030§or=Classics I don't know when the engine was rebuilt and I don't know how many miles it has on it. I have done around 1800 miles on the synthetic oil. Not long enough to gi...

Re: Ignition coil for 123 ignition on 3.4 mk2
Hi Rich,
I am tempted to get a 123 for my 3.8 as the 123 fitted to my Midget has improved things. I think the old dizzy was quite worn.
Has your 123 made a difference to your 3.4? Would you recommend them?
Thanks
Dave

Re: Synthetic oil
I thought I would give a little feed back on the synthetic oil. I refilled the Jag with Millers synthetic oil for classic cars and so far it has performed well. There are fewer oil drips on the garage floor and less oil being used. I don't know if this is because of the oil or that the car is being ...
