Overdrive slow to engage
Hi there, Seeking a bit of guidance as the overdrive on my 1970 2+2 ( gear lever switch mounted) is very slow to engage, the more so when cold. Can hear the switch initiating, but when cold it doesn't want to engage, but once the engine has warmed up it will take upwards of 20 seconds or so to engag...

Re: Rustproofing advice
Thanks Dave, I have been hunting online today and found them, as well as Corosco in Enfield who get good write ups. There is also JR Classics in Doncaster and a slightly 'different' provider (see the website) called Before 'n After Rustproofing. Would love to hear from anyone who has used any of the...

Rustproofing advice
Dear all, am planning on a complete rust proofing treatment to my SII, but am havering between Waxoyl v. Zeibart v. Dinitrol. Or are there other better alternatives out there? Can recall seeing some articles on this but not tracked them down. I suspect there is not a great deal between the various p...

Re: Boot stuck shut
Thanks everybody for all the comments, looks as though being forced to work from home has benefited me - judging by the range of responses! Hi Jim, I haven’t retired, but it looks as though I might be retiring now! Had been doing some consultancy work to help keep the fleet going, but circumstances ...

Re: Boot stuck shut
Hi all, hope you and your cars are all running well......update on my boot, now we are out of isolation. Seems like, unless someone out there has a magic bullet, I am going to have to butcher the rear end to get the boot open. I have seen quite a few videos, threads et cetera (thanks to Astromorg) f...

Re: Boot stuck shut
Many thanks Astromorg, appreciate the suggestions and have read the thread you kindly linked, well worth a read, but hope the downward push will solve the problem. Our US cousins clearly had a fine time getting it sorted, I will wait and try the other options before I buy a baseball bat though.........

Boot stuck shut
Hi all, my beautiful 2001 XKR convertible is suffering from a jammed boot lid. Of course this happened on our return to Stansted airport, having had to divert to Gatwick then cross London by train tube etc. in the rush hour. On collecting the car in the rain, the boot wouldn’t open. No click from th...

Re: Panel & Sidelights
Thanks Jerry, Yes the panel switch works fine, still with the two position clicks, but I gather from my local classic specialist these lights will not come on unless the sidelights area on, so I suspect I am narrowing the problem down to the broken side light switch. I have a workshop manual which c...

Panel & Sidelights
Hi folks, The dash panel lights (dim/bright) have ceased to function on my series 2, as have the sidelights. I’ve pulled and checked all fuses, which are all sound. Electricity is a dark art to me, and when it’s not a bulb or a fuse I start to have palpitations. However, the sidelight rocker switch ...

Intermittent wiper kit for S2 2+2
Hi all, am looking for an intermittent wiper kit for my 1970 S2 2+2 FHC. It is very irritating (or am I lazy?) in our Brit weather to have to keep leaning over to switch on and off the wiper, let alone the fact that I will no doubt shorten the life of the rocker switch. Does any one know of or can s...

Re: Owners manuals
Thanks Rog, very happy to buy yours, always a bit nervous with the relevance of eBay gear. If you have the right one then it is the right one for me. chris@jcharman.eu is best to take this offline.
Many thanks, Chris
