Bonnet Release
Has anyone had to replace the bonnet release cable? After a couple of instances of the end of the cable slipping its attachment to the bonnet release lever on my 2003 model it now looks as though the cable has snapped. First job is to get the bonnet open, of course. I’ve carefully prised the radiato...

Re: Electrical failure on the move
Thanks, gentlemen. I've left the car at the local Jag garage with a full description of the symptoms. It's noticeable that when I was driving into the garage this morning with the lights off, all was well. I've asked them to pay special attention to the earth straps and ground points but there is al...

Electrical failure on the move
Interesting time this evening when I suddenly lost most of my electrics when driving. Though the engine and power were unaffected, as were the headlights (both high and dipped beams) and the main instrument pack in front of me, everything else, internal and external, failed, including rear lights, b...

Re: XJR Bad Shockers??
I've just had a similar problem with my SE - see 'Air Suspension Replacement' thread, in which I received some excellent advice. To summarise, in factory form the system uses a combined spring and shock and it's not practically divisible. There is a US company, Arnott, which makes a conversion kit t...

Re: Low compression on V8
Just to finish this one off, I collected the Jag from XJK A week ago, having bitten the bullet and had a brand new gearbox fitted and a load of suspension bushes, arms and an air spring replaced. It now drives like new and I have renewed confidence in it. I know it makes no economic sense, but what ...

Re: Headlamp condensation
The headlamp condensation has come back with a vengeance and has possibly caused a failure in the xenon bulb in the offside unit. It's taken the shine off the triumphant return home of the car which has had extensive work to suspension and a brand new gearbox (see elsewhere on this Board). Paul - wh...

Re: Low compression on V8
Unfortunately, the replacement gearbox has been found to be worse than the first so the car will be staying over here with XJK for a week or two while they source a better one and I'll have to fly home without it. It's frustrating because everything else has been done and it looked as though they'd ...

Re: Low compression on V8
Thanks, Paul. Yes, I'm ashamed I ever doubted the engine but an e-mail from David Marks questioned the procedure the local garage followed to get the poor compression results. With regard to the gearbox, XJK did tell me they'd be examining all electronic and mechanical fixes before calling for its r...

Re: Low compression on V8
Here I am staying with friends in beautiful Wiltshire while the Jag is up with XJK in Newcastle-under-Lyme and the news from them is that the engine does NOT need changing! They identified a breathing problem which is now sorted and report good compression on all eight cylinders. From talking to the...

Re: Wanted. X350R with sport suspension in black or green.
Mine doesn't have heated seats. The only problem I had with the sunroof was a break in the mounting frame. Even when the sunroof panel was sitting slightly askew prior to the frame being replaced it didn't leak.

Re: Low compression on V8
XJK will be putting the engine from Eurojag in in the next week or two, Rob. As to the future, if I were to have the original engine rebuilt then I would probably be getting either the local Jag service agent or XJK to do the second swap. The engineering company I mentioned would only be working on ...

Re: Low compression on V8
Well, that's definitely not a diesel, then! All advice was appreciated. The replacement of the V8 has had to be put back a week. I've purchased the engine from Eurojag but they are very busy and can't guarantee delivery to XJK by this week. Next week is Manx Grand Prix race week and all the ferries ...

Re: Low Fuel Light
That would explain that, then!
Well done, Dave. Presumably the previous owner was attempting to get round the problem of bulb failures in the instrument panel and the hassle of getting to them to replace them.
Cheers,

Re: Low Fuel Light
In a 3.8 it seems to be on all the time!
Mine starts to flash on when going round corners with the tank just under half full and then comes on solidly when it's just under a quarter full.
