I posted a comment in the general section yesterday, concerning the 'sport' pack on 4.0 litre models.
Why was this post deleted? It was intended to be a helpful post, I can't see any reason why it would be removed!

Adjusting the drivers door
Does anyone know how to adjust a door on an XJ8? My driver's door has dropped a little, and the seal catches on the top of the B pillar as a result. Once the door is closed, it looks OK, but I think its being lifted by the seal/jamb as it closes. Do I have to undo the bolts that mount the hinges on ...

Hi Dave, I think the idea that the lower tensioners will definitely make a noise when they are worn is incorrect: mine were heavily worn, cracked, and there was no noise at all. If I was buying another XJ8, I really would get the lot changed. It's good for peace of mind, and it's a lot cheaper than ...

Picked up my 4.0 XJ8 today from XJK in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. They've done an excellent job, for a very decent price (just under a grand, including all chains, tensioners and waterpump). It has covered about 86,000 miles. Apparently the top chains were badly worn, and had probably been running on metal for some time. It's a 4.0 litre, I don't know if the VVT puts any more force on the chains? The only outward clue, according to XJK, was a slightly rough idle when cold, but there wer...

Failing chain tensioners, and no noise!
Just had a lucky escape... I picked up my 2001 XJ8 about 2 weeks ago, and after reading a lot about chain tensioners, decided it was a priority to check the condition of mine. There was no noise from the chains, and the engine seemed to run really well. It's even verging on economical. I booked it i...
