Re: Brake micro switch replacement
It is possible to replace the micro switch by utilising the existing bracket. You can do this single handed if you need to. I put a ‘how to’ post back in 2015.

Re: Signing Off from XF Ownership
Hi Ian, Yes the bean bags worked a treat. I bought two child size bags and decanted polystyrene balls until the bags were just big enough to stuff behind the front seats and level with the rear seat plus fill the gap over the transmission tunnel. Dog bed over the top and you have a flat bed. Perfect...

Re: Signing Off from XF Ownership
Thanks guys for your kind replies and your efforts to keep me in the fold. To answer your suggestions. I'd love a jaguar classic but for that I need a nice warm dry garage. I have this very thing but my better half has the quaint notion that her car should live in it! That is an argument I cannot wi...

Signing Off from XF Ownership
Well the day came when I decided to part with my XF which has been an absolute joy to own. It was not an easy decision as over the four years I had owned the car it had never let me down or had a day off the road. Outlay on repairs was minimal and costs were for routine servicing and consumables suc...

Re: S type speedo calibration
Hi Alec, Nothing to do today but hide from storm Dennis so plenty of time to search the internet. It would seem that speedometers are permitted to read up to 10% over true speed but there is no leeway to read under true speed. It also seems that insurance companies view any changes to transmission a...

Re: S type speedo calibration
Just curious. Does anyone know if there is any legislation regarding the accuracy of speedometers and presumably changing anything that alters the speedo calibration is a notifiable modification as far as insurance is concerned?

Re: Rear Screen Wiper
I think I need to move house. Devon lanes don’t allow for speeds high enough to create the necessary airflow......and then you have to back up and the rear screen has almost zero visibility. Once on the main roads the screen clears OK but just when you need a quick wipe there’s no wiper there!

Rear Screen Wiper
Is it just me or do other XF owners find the lack of a rear wiper frustrating from time to time?

Re: DPF Cleaners - do they work?
Hi Neil, I also have a 3.0 Diesel XF which does a lot of short journeys. It may be tempting fate but in 4 years of ownership I have yet to see the dreaded DPF warning. I do two things to keep the warning at bay. Firstly I only use Shell Nitro for the cleaning additives. Secondly every six months I a...

Re: Warrenty & Recovery coming to an end.
Hi David, Shop around to get prices then sit down and have a good think. I think it depends on your attitude to risk. If you want a safety net for anything that goes wrong (and the warranty is comprehensive) then take the warranty. If you are prepared to take repair expenses as and when then don’t t...

CTEK is the way to go. Can not fault this easy to use piece of kit. My trickle charger was rendered obsolete and went to the tip for recycling!

Re: Restricted Performance - Another one!
My turn for ‘Restricted Performance’. Warning came on on a fast uphill climb. Only noticeable difference at the time was an unwillingness to press on. Left overnight the RP warning had cleared. I only have a basic code reader which recorded P1247 which points to several suspects:- Damaged MAP hose L...

Hi Dave,
2020 will bring up 10 years for my XF so the Cam Belt change will be necessary maintenance for me too. Time not mileage.
