Re: XJ12 S3 Engine Woes
Yes. I went last year which I think was the first time it had been held and was very impressed. Plenty of cars covering all eras (including a good few Jaguars) and enough stalls and clubs etc. to keep me occupied for a few hours. Well worth a visit for a tenner (used XJS club discount) but even at £...

Re: XJ12 S3 Engine Woes
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've done some further research today on the world of V12 distributors and bob weights so I've an improving appreciation of what may be involved and to look out for. I'll keep my eyes out at this weekend's Manchester Classic Car Show for any dizzy-related items....

Re: XJ12 S3 Engine Woes
Thanks BB, I've looked online at bob weights and it looks a fairly straightforward job to check they are free (think positively!). When I get some time I'll take a look and post an update. However any advice you or others can give re things to be careful of when doing this or other possible causes g...

XJ12 S3 Engine Woes
Hello, I drove my '82 Series 3 yesterday for this first time in 3 weeks. The car starts and cruises around town fine, albeit on idle it's a shade lumpy; however, when I try to accelerate relatively hard either from stationary or when kicking down the RPM seems to 'hunt' or hesitate around 2000 rpm a...

Wanted: Rear Subframe 4.0 Facelift
Rear subframe wanted for a '94 XJS Facelift 4.0. The Holy Grail would be a fully refurbished, off-car subframe but in lieu of that anything that is complete and wouldn't require too much restoration considered. Thanks, Glyn.

Re: Series 3 Power Steering Reservoir
Hello Oldtimer, one thing I forgot to ask from your first post was what fluid you would recommend? My plan was to use a modern fluid and conditioner such as Comma's PSF, which it suggests is suitable for most systems and has seen good service in my XJ6 and XJS. However, the Haynes manual suggests De...

Re: Series 3 Power Steering Reservoir
Thank you again for getting in touch, much appreciated. I checked the car this morning on the way to work and located the reservoir where you said it would be. Once I'd managed to weave my hand through a mass of piping, I checked the fluid level and to my 'relief' found the reservoir empty (see atta...

Re: Series 3 Power Steering Reservoir
Thank you very much, Oldtimer, greatly appreciated. The car is stored in a garage located away from me so I'll check over the next couple of days and let you know how I get on. I must admit I didn't delve deeper than surface level, as I'd (perhaps stupidly given it's a 30+-yr old Jag) expect these t...

Series 3 Power Steering Reservoir
Hello, I'm trying to locate the power steering reservoir in a '82 XJ12 Series 3 but can't see it anywhere. I am of course assuming that the steering is power assisted and the steering certainly feels light enough for it to be so, but am happy to be corrected if it's not. The Haynes manual illustrate...

Re: X300 Won't Turnover Following Flat Battery
I'll try the lubrication approach, I've got some suitable stuff somewhere. I'm also very glad it's a relatively quick fix. I had visions of fried ECUs and burnt relays that'd have me chasing my tail for days. She joins a '94 XJS facelift and '82 Series 3 in my 'collection' and although I'm trying to...

Re: X300 Won't Turnover Following Flat Battery
Thanks BB. I did actually do this to get the car into neutral so I could get it out of the garage to check the fuses, but for some reason I didn't try to start the car with the solenoid 'released'. Anyway, with the solenoid 'released' the car starts so my next job is to take apart the gear selector ...

X300 Won't Turnover Following Flat Battery
Hello all, hopefully someone can help me with a problem I have starting my '97 X300. The car was running very well with no starting or electrical problems. I then garaged the car for a few weeks and on my return the battery was flat. As the boot lock won't open with the key, I had to connect a batte...
